Whether it be sweat from the heat, tears from your allergies or water from trying to cool off, Summer isn’t so kind to our favorite makeup looks. I know what it’s like to be out all day and finally catch a glimpse of your reflection then realizing the masterpiece you created in the morning is a wreck.
With a little bit of trial and error from me, I’ve compiled a list of makeup that seems to be the most full-proof during the hotter months. I’ll list high end options first with more inexpensive options following. There will also be website links so you know where to find them. Keep in mind we all have different skin and these might not work for everyone, but they work for my combination skin.
Primer: A good makeup day always starts with a solid base.
Benefit POREfessional // NYX Cosmetics Pore Killer Primer
Foundation: For a more natural look, try applying foundation with a dampened sponge like a Beauty Blender or a brush if more coverage is needed.
MAC Pro Longwear Foundation // Revlon ColorStay Foundation
Concealer: Along with covering blemishes, concealer is great to use to brighten up underneath your eye or as an eyeshadow primer for a longer wear.
benefit Boi-ing Full Coverage Concealer // Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer
Setting Powder: Focusing powder onto the t-zone (or wherever is most oily) helps longwear foundation last longer.
The Body Shop All-In-One Face Base // Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Bronzer: It’s smart to avoid sun on the face to avoid aging. A little bit of bronzer can help so you don’t need to change the color of your foundation if you get more tan.
benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer // Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster
Blush: A blush with a matte finish tends to last longer when it’s hot outside.
NARS Blusher // Physicians Formula Powder Palette Blush
Eyebrow: A well-defined brow can easily enhance a makeup look.
Anastasia Baverly Hills Brow Wiz // Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper
Eyeliner: For those of us that enjoy having a winged look all the way through the hot months, long lasting is important to keep the lines precise all day. Setting eyeliner with matte black eyeshadow allows it to last longer.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Precision Longwear // Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen
Mascara: Waterproof mascara is always an option if you plan on spending a lot of time around water.
Smashbox Full Exposure // L’oreal Lash Paradise
Setting Spray: Finding a setting spray that works for you is as important as having a good base. It will keep the natural look if you use a lot of matte products.
MAC Fix + Setting Spray // NYX Cosmetics Makeup Setting Spray
I decided to not include eyeshadow because I tend to avoid it more often in the summer or simply use bronzer or blush on the eyes for a more neutral look. If you’re looking for a more glamorous look and need longer lasting lipstick, I recommend any of the MAC matte colors.
I hope someone found this useful!
