India’s Next Top Model Season 2 will air on MTV India every Sunday from July 10th at 7 PM (IST). Super Model Lisa Haydon returns as the host alongside MTV VJ Anusha ,ace fashion photographer Dabboo Ratnani & Neeraj Gabba will be mentoring the contestants through out the season. 18-years-old Danielle Canute from Mumbai bagged the title of India’s Next top Model Season 1 last year. This year 13 girls from across the country have been shortlisted as finalist. unlike it’s western counterparts the contestants at this years show seem to be bit experienced although they can’t be called as successful models but they know the tricks & trade if the business for sure.

Ranbir-Katrina’s love life

Ever since her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif is looking like a dream. The gorgeous actress is fitter than ever and looks like a diva in the songs and trailer of ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. So recently, during the trailer launch, when Katrina was asked how did she deal with the situation and what helped her through the breakup she said, “Go to the gym and do some crunches. That’s how you deal with it.” Now that exactly is the secret behind her new smashing physical avatar. Katrina has never looked this sizzling and if the new trailer and song of ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ are anything to go by, the actress will prove to be a scene stealer in the film. Let’s wait and watch.

Anurag Basu’s next directorial ‘Jagga Jasoos’ starring rumoured ex lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif has been in the news for both right and wrong reasons. And ever since Ranbir – Katrina have allegedly parted ways, the curiosity levels of their fans have touched newer heights. However, this piece of news might not make them too happy. Reportedly, Ranbir and Katrina have been rehearsing for a song, but separately. While Kat has been rehearsing for a song sequence at choreographer’s Ganesh Acharya’s studio in Bandra, Ranbir has been doing his own rehearsals at some other venue in Juhu. While Anurag Basu has always maintained that both his actors are true professionals and that their equation has not affected the film in any ways, news about a certain amount of awkwardness and discomfort between them have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. Let’s just hope and pray that the film sees the light of day sooner than expected and doesn’t prove a disappointment for Ranbir-Kat’s fans upon its release!

Ever since Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif broke up, there have been several rumors regarding their film ‘Jagga Jasoos’, which is also touted to be their last film together. This film will be this estranged couple’s first film post their break-up and there have been rumours that the two stars haven’t cooperated with each other. However, in a recent interview, the director of the film, Anurag basu rubbished all such rumors. He even praised how professional both Katrina and Ranbir were and at times, he found it funny when media reported that they did not share their make-up van when two stars never do that even if they are dating. When asked about cold vibes between the two, the director refused to comment on the same saying that it is not his business to know whether there were any cold vibes or not. It’s his job to make a film and not be bothered about anything apart from that. Lastly, Anurag also agreed that it is a disadvantage when a couple works in a film together because sometimes if they are in love in real life, it gets even more difficult to portray it on screen.

We are well aware that Katrina Kaif is a part of Karan Johar’s Dream Team concert. The team also consists of stars like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur. However, did you know that Ranbir Kapoor was approached for the same? Reports suggest that Ranbir was going to be a part of the Dream Team, but when he found out that Kat had been roped in for the same, he bowed out. Rumours were rife that Katrina wanted to get back to Ranbir, but the latter had moved on and is currently seeing a hot model from Delhi.

Former lovers, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will reportedly promote their upcoming film ‘Jagga Jasoos’ together. Buzz doing the rounds was that the two aren’t on talking terms and may team up for the trailer launch but won’t be promoting the movie together. However, a source reportedly dismissed the rumours and said that the film is almost complete and the fact is that though the two may not communicate much of sets, they remain mature, committed professionals who will do whatever is best for their film.

This show going to be more innovative and better than before. Its promo is amazing and I personally attended the launch at the Leela-Hotel (Mumbai). It was really great to go through the journey and difficulties in short of the top models. I definitely will watch this and would suggest you to don’t miss this …. because it’s going to be biggest season and something interesting out there as some of the best judges are hosting it.

June 30, 2016, Mumbai: MTV, the ultimate word on the youth, is all set to give aspiring young women a chance to take the modelling world by storm as it kicks off monsoon on a rather fashionable note with the launch of the second season of India’s Next Top Model on MTV. The Indian version of the CBS sensation ‘America’s Next Top Model’ created by Tyra Banks was launched in India last year by license holder and producer Bulldog Media & Entertainment. Following on the heels of massive appreciation for the first season, the fashion franchise will be returning to our TV screens with MTV calling for feisty young models in the most- awaited sartorial feast – India’s Next Top Model Season 2 – for the eyes premiering Sunday, 10th July at 7pm only on MTV.

In the hunt to find India’s Next Top Model, the fashion- packed runway show will see some of India’s fresh faces being mentored by the best in the industry. IMPORTANT STEPS TO BECOMING A SUCCESSFUL MODEL …

Being a previous model and working at a top local modeling agency, I get asked all the time, “What are the steps to becoming a model?” I’m always happy to answer as I had to learn the hard way myself and want to tell everyone else the right way to go about it.

The modeling world is one of the most competitive, hardest and possibly dangerous industries to enter into as a career if you don’t know the right steps to take.

Many people are willing to take advantage of young females looking to make it famous with their looks.

On the other hand, there are quality agencies out there that can be hard to get into or accepted to if girls aren’t aware of what steps to becoming a model are necessary.

Check out these essential steps so you can know up front what you need to do if you’re interested in modeling.

KNOW YOUR MARKET

One of the most important steps to becoming a model is knowing your market.

What does this mean?

Well, for starters, depending on the area you live in, certain trends and looks are more popular than others.

For instance, if you live in the south as I do, runway modeling and fashion show modeling are not as widespread as commercial modeling for print occasions like magazines, newspapers and store sales papers.

Also knowing your market will help you know what look the agencies around you are looking for.

Living in a suburban area as I do, agencies aren’t looking for that sleek, ultra-sexy look with overstated hair or makeup like bigger cities are.

In fact, the more natural look is actually preferred in suburban areas, while more trendy, sleek looks are wanted in the city.

If your look doesn’t fit your market, move to an area that does, or consider traveling back and forth to an area that does.

Also know whether you’re auditioning for a market that advertises petite sizes, plus sizes, certain clothing trends, or for a targeted market like natural living, city trends, cosmetic companies, etc.

FIND A GOOD AGENCY

The best thing you can do for yourself is to find a good agency to work with.

Agencies should not ask for money up front, or be sketchy in terms of signing anyone possible, which could mean that they run off with the models’ earnings later.

Get online and search The Better Business Bureau’s website to find a modeling agency you can trust.

A good agency should understand your personal needs as a model, lift you up, and never take money from you.

They should also never ask you to put yourself in a dangerous or compromising situation.

BE AWARE

Also be aware that the idea of modeling is not to give you fame, but instead to create a certain wanted look by photographers and companies.

You may be asked to cut or color your hair, wear an outfit you don’t like, or spend endless hours traveling to the right photo shoot location just for one shot.

You may also be on set for anywhere from 8-12 hours or even more.

Know ahead of time that the point of using a model is to create the right photo.

Many photographers, agencies and product campaigns put the photo goal ahead of the model’s needs.

KEEP YOUR VALUES

Many girls who don’t intend on compromising their values end up doing so if they don’t know ahead of time just what their values are.

Don’t ever sacrifice yourself to be a model.

The modeling #world can be laced with drugs, alcohol, sex-trades, rape, greed and more if you get in with the wrong crowd, which is easy to do when you’re looking for a quick route to fame and fortune.

Never do anything it takes to get to the top.

I can promise you that you’ll regret it later and this is the number one reason I left the industry.

Outside of local modeling gigs, most outlets for modeling lead to sketchy, compromising situations.

Know your values and stick to your guns!

On the other hand, the right agencies will honor your values and can lead you to a great career.

GET SOME PRACTICE

Don’t expect to walk into a modeling agency, do a few twirls and expect them to sign you.

Having worked in an agency, I can tell you anywhere from 10-20 #people a day walked through the doors unexpectedly asking to meet with the owners of the agency.

Agencies are extremely busy and usually have girls fill out paperwork and submit photos for review.

They almost never see girls by just walking in.

Know this ahead of #time and get some practice behind your belt.

If you do get called in for a meet and greet, you need to keep your look casual, yet also have a confident walk and not look fake.

Practice, practice, practice!

GET A GOOD HEADSHOT

When it comes to the modeling industry, you won’t get anywhere without a good headshot to get you started.

Have someone you know or a photographer take a natural headshot of you.

No photo-touching, hardly any #makeup, and simple hair should be the top three key points of your photo.

I’m serious, girls!

Modeling agencies hate Photoshopped pictures, makeup, fancy #hair styles, or overdone looks.

They want to see you in the raw to see if you could transformed into a variety of looks.

Remember, you’re pretty just as you are, so let those agencies see you for you!

Most importantly, no Glamour Shot photos!

KNOW THE ODDS

The modeling industry is one of the hardest careers to achieve and maintain.

Most models who haven’t been modeling up to age 22 are almost guaranteed they won’t make it in the runway industry unless they seek out commercial modeling options, which I’m actually more fond of anyway.

You don’t need to be a certain size to model, nor do you need to look a certain way.

You just need to know what the odds are in the market you’re in.

If you don’t look like a runway model, that’s fine!

I’m only 5’5” so I was never able to be a runway model and I actually preferred more commercial outlets like cosmetic or clothing shots, or even better, magazine ads and covers, to work in.

Know the odds of what you face in terms of the area you live, what your #look has to offer, and how hard each specific outlet for modeling is, such as commercial or runway.

The most important thing you can do to become a model is to be yourself!

Never change who you are on the inside or outside to make someone else happy.

Modeling can be a great way to gain self-confidence and can help you make #money on the side of a regular day job.

Never sacrifice yourself, your values or your self-esteem to do so!

These steps will lead you to being a successful and happy model.

Can you imagine a world without jeans? The world would come to a standstill while it decided what to wear! Denim is such a staple in our wardrobe it would be a real loss if we decided when we reach 50 to hang up our jeans. At your age you should know better? This isn’t necessarily true when it comes to jeans, as it’s easy to get in a denim rut and wear the same pair due to fear of getting it wrong. Jeans have never been so comfortable as a Lycra mix in denim gives that figure fixing stretch and hold that enhances our figures.

Pear /Hourglass

For the pear shape and hourglass body type it is important to give balance to your curves and the best way to do this is with a boot cut or a flare leg jean. Jeans with noticeable stitching on the side seams or with virtual front seam give the illusion of a longer leg. Boot cuts come in all different widths and by trying on different brands you will be able to find the best one for your shape.

Flare leg jeans have come a long way since the 70’s and they are now a hot trend –Fit & Flare. Flared jeans lengthen the leg still balancing out your curves giving a sexy look.

Apple

The apple body type can choose from a straight leg, shoe cut, slight boot cut, boot cut, Flare leg to a medium wide leg.

Long & Leggy

Most leg styles look fantastic on a Long & Leggy but if you feel the skinny look isn’t for you then try a pair of wide leg jeans. The look is classic and timeless as this trend goes through to next summer. A Poker straight leg with a high waist is another classic example of dressing for your shape and age

Petite

Keep the leg style narrow by going for slim, straight and slightly boot cut depending on your petite curves. If you find a pair of jeans that fit like a glove apart from the length, definitely think about having them altered by a good tailor. If they are a skinny or straight leg you won’t loose any of the shape when altered. If wearing heels with your skinny jeans keep the length long as the excess fabric at the ankle gives the illusion of a longer leg. Look for a front seam blasted in to the wash giving a sharp effect which again elongates the leg.

Fuller Figure

The good old boot cut is the most flattering of cuts as this will balance out your curves. Wide legs are great for disguising chunkier thighs if you keep the leg length long and the color dark.

TOP DENIM PICK’S FOR HOURGLASS & PEAR SHAPE

This post was inspired by an email from a reader questioning why an hourglass was included in the pear shape category on the ilovejeans.com body shape tool. She felt that her hourglass body shape had nothing to do with a pear shape.

Pear or Hourglass?

Right let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of the two body shapes…

Pear (left) :

Your hips are slightly wider than your shoulders with a slim upper body, smaller bust, broadening to a fullness in the hip, bottom & thigh area. A high percentage of women in the UK fall into this body shape. Pears can be all sizes, petite to plus size.

Hourglass (right) :

Your hips & bust are about the same size with your waist being approx 10″ smaller, with a fuller bottom. The interesting factor with an hourglass is that an overweight pear can fall into this body shape ( putting weight on the top half as well on the bottom).

You can see in the body shapes above the top half is the difference in a pear & hourglass. Gok Wan often mentions that clothing manufacturers and dress makers still design to an hourglass mannequin shape. When it comes to dressing the bottom half of a pear or hourglass in jeans, the formula is the same.

What’s the problem?:

Finding a style that fits on the waist and on the hips is the difficulty. Often a pair of jeans in a bigger size is purchased to house the hips & bottom but the waist is too big and gapes at the small of the back. This is a common problem for both pear & hourglass and the only answer to get around the gape is to follow the rules….

5 Curvy Girl Rules To Follow:

#1: Choose a higher rise jean. The rise is the measurement from the top of the waistband down to the bottom of the crotch seam. A higher rise jean sits comfortably below your belly button covering your bottom & hip area.

Find the best rise for you: With your jeans on take a tape measure and measure from the crotch seam up to two fingers below your belly button. This will give you the measurement of the rise that will be comfortable for you. Or if you don’t have a tape measure use a ribbon or a piece of string. Take this shopping with you and use it as a guide when picking out jeans to try on.

#2: Always choose a style with at least 1% Lycra mix in the fabric content (you can check on the label inside the jean). This is important for comfort and for keeping shape. Lycra & Elastane do the same job. I have found jeans with a Cotton, Polyester & Lycra mix keep the best shape.

#3: Choose a wider waistband. Perfect for sitting on the hip & the smallest part of your waist. Often a wider waistband sits higher on the back, so no knickers showing.

#4: Look to balance out your curves. When choosing a leg shape opt for a boot cut, wide leg or kick flare to balance out your curves. If you’re hankering for a skinny style, go for a Straight leg rather than a skinny style but remember keep the rise high!

#5: Do your homework. There are a handful of denim brands & retailers that specifically have styles for ladies with curves. Check them out as they were created for you…

What Not to wear

Readers, dress better! “Trust me, you’re gonna like the way you look.”

Seriously, you’ll be amazed at the boost this gives to your confidence. And the impact it has on the way you’re treated by students and colleagues.

Hair: It is not illegal for an assistant professor to have a trendy haircut. Ditch the ponytail. Reject the pageboy (of any length). Show that you ARE All That. Spend the money on yourself to look good. Find the hottest hair salon in your town, and become a regular. You will be astounded at what a good haircut does for your confidence. If you do nothing else from this post, do this. Don’t know how to find the hottest hair salon? Go to the hottest coffee shop, find the barista with the coolest haircut (male or female, it matters not), and ask them where they got it.

Skin and Makeup: I like makeup. Not everyone does. It’s optional, of course. If you go for it, and I think you should, let’s lean away from Wet N’ Wild and more toward L’Oreal and Revlon. No need to go into the overpriced department store brands at this stage in your career. I like Revlon Colorstay because I put it on in the morning and don’t have to think about it again. I recently discovered that lip stain makes a killer all-day blush.

Even if you don’t wear makeup, take care of your skin. It’s your largest organ! It deserves care! Use a toner and moisturizer. They feel good and make a difference.Do the occasional clay mask. Cheap ones are fine. I like organics, myself.

Jewelry: Wear conservative jewelry to job talks. You may wear conspicuous jewelry at large conferences. In your daily life in the department, aim for the middle. Beware of jangling bracelets.

Tops: Take out your tops and look at them them. Are they stained? Get them cleaned or throw them out. Are they ripped? Fix them or throw them out. We notice. Your students notice. Please.

Iron your shirts. I know there’s no time. But iron your shirts.

***Be Aware: Jackets are hard to fit!. The best and most expensive jacket will not do its magic if it doesn’t fit YOUR body. And a badly fitting jacket will look the opposite of good. Jacket shopping can be grueling, like swimsuits. Put in the time. It’s worth it. The time you spend in the stores you’ll more than save in the mornings when you’re rushing out the door for the 8 AM class.

Bottoms: Pants or skirt? The perennial question. I don’t think it matters. You must be comfortable. Just leave behind the trailing earth mother skirts you wore in graduate school. You are a young professional. You have to look like one. Old-timers bewail the homogenization of the assistant professoriate, in their sea of dull grey suits. Nevertheless, own a grey suit. Just make it really, really stylish grey suit. And wear it with killer shoes.

Shoes: For the job interview, wear a heel between 1 and 3 inches. I don’t recommend flats because, frankly, you need the height. Above 3 inches, and you’re tottering. I wear this kind of heel every day, but that’s me. I like heels. Avoid stilettos and kitten heels–they stick in sidewalk cracks and trip you. The round or square toe and a stacked heel keeps you safe from falling over as you approach the podium. Beyond these rules, express yourself. Have the hippest shoes that you can pull off. They give you mystique. They say, “I’m brilliant AND I’m cool suckaz.” You want your students to be a little bit intimidated, and your colleagues to feel a little bit inadequate.

Why do all this? Because image matters. And because you’ll feel better. And when you feel better, you perform better. Don’t believe me? Try it out for a month, and find out for yourself.
