The extra layer of fatty tissues under the chin, known as double chin, is usually caused due to extra body weight or aging. In very rare cases, it caused due to genes or heredity. This baggy skin is the result of the musculous mylohyoideus muscle, which lies underneath the chin, losing elasticity. Though not harmful, it can be unattractive and affect self-confidence. Using cosmetics or clothing to hide double chin is only a temporary solution. Surgical procedures are too expensive.
